Hello!
Road trip music turns to music conversation turns to MOG post. After listening to a few songs from Behind the Front in the car, I discuss with a certain DJ(producer) what happened to Black Eyed Peas...
BEFORE:

He says, "It's one thing to sell out, but it's another to have a whole album talking shit about selling out and THEN to sell out the very next album... I love the line 'wacker than those niggas that be rhymin' on the Pringles commercial'... and then what do I hear one day on a Pringles commercial (so many years later), but Black Eyed Peas rhymin' on a Pringles commercial."
WOW. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED??? When did Fergie suddenly become front(wo)man of Black Eyed Peas? And what the hell are her "humps"? And why are people dancing to that song on their phones in dressing rooms?
AFTER:

Do we all miss the days of Behind the Front? Or is it just a select few... :(
Thank You.
P.S. I heart "Joints & Jam" x infinity... 4eva. Come back BEP!!!

no doubt. they are the BIG TIME now.
My Trusted MOGs
They are so popular overseas I can't even stand the mention of them anymore.

YES i am FURIOUS. really really mad. One day it was all good, they were really trying to do something, you know? Like they cared. And then the next day it was "Where is the Luuuuv" and stupid remakes and commercials and it just got worse and worse. BEP are right up there with P.Diddy for me. And that just makes me sad.
Thank god we still have J5 and Gift of Gab and the like. Obviously we didn't need those sellout bastids.

black eyed peas are terrible (as much as i enjoy listening to Humps). I actually listened to both of their recent albums when I was working at Amgen (they were sitting on the fileserver for all to listen to), and it was just bad. What makes it worse is their lyrics! They are SO TERRIBLE. Every song, except for Where is the Luv is about girls' bodies or drugs (i realize a lot of music is about these topics, but somehow black eyed peas manages to do it in the most distasteful way possible).
Anyway, remember when they played at UCLA for CEC before they turned evil? did you go to that show? i think it was our second year, and you mustve been on staff already.

Haha. Unfortunately, I didn't go to that show. I think that Where is the Love? had already come out as a single... therefore my interest in attending the show was low :( so sad, so sad.

A good friend of mine Terry Graves was their drummer back in the begining. He and the rest of the original band still make great music. You can check his new stuff at: http://www.myspace.com/channeltwo
The guys in BEP are nice and Will is quite talented. I saw a battle between him and wyclef that was proper.
The band has just sold out period. Sucks to see. They cut the whole band before the Elephunk album and signed FURRRRgie and it has been downhill to lolli-pop sell-out crap since then.

Maybe if I actually liked them pre-Fergie I would be concerned. But I didn't. However. "Let's Get It Started" still makes me want to punch someone.
