My niece bought the movie Glory Road when it came out and lent it to me, she knows I'm a huge Disney freak, both animated and non, and told me I'd love it. I've had this movie of hers for so long she forgot she bought it, but I finally watched it yesterday and like she said, I loved it. The movie is about Don Haskins, a coach in a small division I college that chose to play 7 african americans on his team in 1966, the first coach to ever do this, and helped break down the barriers in college basketball. The bonus features in this movie are as great as the movie itself, testaments from both Don Haskins and the 1966 team. As cynical and negative I am, I happen to love feel good movies and this one was no exception. Another plus to this movie is the soundtrack, in includes some wonderful older songs and a few sung by Alicia Keys. I'm not a big Alicia Keys fan, I do feel she's very talented but for some reason I've just never gotten into her. That changed with this soundtrack, there's a song I absolutely love called "Glory Road", how this song can be haunting and uplifting at the same time just blows me away. Here's the track listing for the soundtrack:1. People Get Ready - Lyfe Jennings, Alicia Keys2. Ain't That Peculiar - Marvin Gaye3. Uptight (Everything's Alright) - Stevie Wonder4. Dancing in the Street - Martha Reeves, The Vandellas5. I'm on My Way to Canaan - Mahalia Jackson6. Can You Do It - The Contours7. Shake It Up Baby (Twist and Shout) - The Isley Brothers8. Down in the Boondocks - Billy Joe Royal9. I've Been Loving You Too Long - Otis Redding10. Ain't That Good News - Meditation Singers11. I Will Make the Darkness Light - Alicia Keys12. Glory Road - Alicia Keys, Trevor Rabin
