In 1933, “It’s The Talk Of The Town” was written by Marty Symes and Al J. Neiburg (words) with music by a young Jay Livingston. Among the many people who have recorded this song, Perry Como (1912 - 2001), in his 1955 recording, gives us a technically perfect rendition of this song. For those too young, Como hosted a weekly radio and television show that became one the highest rated tv music variety shows of its time. Como’s program led to yearly Christmas specials which came from various corners of the world. Essentially, the calm, unflappable vocals were typical of the man backstage as well. There will never be another Perry Como.
