Bud Shank Big Band Plays "C & C"

Posted over 2 years ago

Shank also recorded in 1986 an album of concertos for alto sax and orchestra with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 2005, Shank formed his own big band and played at the 40th Anniversary concert celebrating Stan Kenton's Neophonic Orchestra, one that fused the worlds of jazz and classical music with some exciting listening for serious music lovers of all inclinations.

Very sweet indeed.  A nice way to start my evening. The sound quality leaves something to be desired...These guys swing. & that drummer strikes just the right balance, nuanced and authoritive.

    DMDM,

I loved this video even though it's only part of the whole gig and the sound is horrible. Guys that play include Conte Candoli, Shorty Rogers, Bob Cooper, Bill Perkins, Pete Jolly, Monty Budwig, and Chubby Jackson. I imagine that one of the big names were on drums but the video info at you tube just doesnb't give anything about who he is--but he really drives those guys onward!

    Yours truly,
