Joni James Sings "Around the World in 80 Days"
-
Artist:
"Around the World in 80 Days" was the last completed score that Victor Young would write for films. It was a fabulously delicious movie with a galaxy of well-known stars from around the world playing momentary cameos. The two main stars who held the film together with their exploits around the world were David Niven and Mexican star "Cantiflas." It was produced by master showman Michael Todd who had never before produced a motion picture in his life. The filming took place between August 9 to December 20, 1955 costing just under $6 million dollars, a tidy sum in those days. The dazzling adventures assured the movie's fame and the title song, by Victor Young and lyricist Harold Adamson assured the film's fame. The song, in turn, became a big hit for Bing Crosby in 1957. Here singer Joni James makes a wonderfully fluid and inventive use of her astonishing voice.

....Very nice. I remember this movie.
DMDM,
I got to see the film after quite a long time on TCM. A lot of fond memories are connected with all of these wonderful stars who showed up in cameos. A friend my age commented,"I'll be this generation doesn't even know who these people were." Yet it's quite a great treat!
Thanks for writing!
Yours truly,
