WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Kathleen Battle Sings The Love Theme from "House of Flying Daggers"

Posted 3 months ago

Another added encore today is the Love Theme from "House of Flying Daggers." It's a sensitive melody that is extremely delicate with an elgant performance by soprano Kathleen Battle. This is for my moggers mentioned before!

...I do not know why.....but when i'm deep in the blues, when it seems like life's gonna kick me around forever.....I turn to the music of Kathleen Battles.  I remember the first time i ever heard her....i was transfixed immediately.  & I have been ever since.  I could listen to her sing anything.  I have a cd of her singing American Spirituals & folk tunes....its way outside my usual diet.....but my god when this lady soars i swear she lifts my soul & shines a light & and fills me with incredible, sad, wondrous awe that such beauty exists.  & its like....yeah, thats why we live!.

....I am unfamiliar with this track, Musikfriend, but it certainly doesn't dissappoint. I swear this Lady & her burnished honey voice can heal souls!

    Thank you for this.

Yeah, what he said. Think I have Ms. Battle doing some Mahler songs (although Dame Janet Baker owns that stuff) and I can also recommend the soprano who recently died, but left a beautiful recording of Lorca songs. Her name is escaping me, I think Lieberson. Worth checking out. Thanks for posting this, MusikFriend.

    BerkleyBob,

I have heard Kathy singing Mahler once upon a time, but think that you are right about Dame Janet Baker practically owning Mahler (she is probably the most delicate of all singer who recorded Mahler next to Fischer-Dieskau). And when you named Liberson, you were on the money. I believe she died at the time fame was knocking on the door for her. Her range was enormous. But Battle totally blew me away with this song. She is still great!

    Yours very truly,
