Marty Robbins Sings "Devil Woman"
-
Artist:
The universal appeal of country music will surprise many Americans who are not aware that there is a viable and strong love country music tradition in Europe. One of the most memorable festivals of country music was the internation country music festival at Wembley as organized by manager Mervyn Cohn. My British friends were seriously addicted to these concerts and, due to there physical limitations, always got a front row seat. I am not sure if they are visible in this video (they would be two dark haired ladies with glasses sitting in the very front!), however, this is around the time that they met Marty Robbins!
Marty Robbins lived a full and happy life until he passed away from cradiac surgery in 1982 just weeks after completing the filming of his portion in Clint Eastwood's 1982 film "Honkytonk Man." Robbins' death left a giant hole in country music and the world of music. Earlier on in his life, he said, "I would like to be remembered as a good entertainer, a good person. I think, maybe better as a good person." That he will always be remembered to his fans to whom he was a kindly person.
