Another of Marty Robbins' signature songs was "El Paso" which won a Grammy Award in 1959 and spawned two more songs taken from this opus ("Feleena" and "El Paso City"). However, "El Paso" became one of his signature tunes and one which has a great story told with a continuous line of development throughout.

Hi Buddy. I really enjoyed your Marty Robbins posts...they provided a nice soundtrack as i was working in my shop last night. I realize I'm a bit late with my gratitude, but i felt i would b remiss if i didn't acknowlege the series.
Hi DMDM!
Glad to hear from you and how much you love Marty Robbins. I have a real respect for the man and his music. He remains what a true country artist should be - loyal to his fans and himself. He was one of the few who truly loved performing and loved his fans. Everything he did well has an immortality all its own. All you have to at times is hear the intro and immediately you know it's Marty Robbins.
Glad you liked the posts. I just did what comes naturally!

As a child it was the one LP my mother would let me play more and more, and I became astute at being ablt to set the needle on the beginning of the groove without scratching. My imagination painted over and over the man, his love, and his love unto death; the one honor we all have deep inside us.
Musikfriend, continue on, it is always a joy.
Sidenote: that same stereo player (then a stereo meant two speakers) gave me Westside Story, one of my other favorites. Also in Casper, Wyoming; back then TV was black and white with only one station, so with a variety available, that stero became my companion.

Sharppslicer,
Your experience with tv in Wyoming reflectrs my own experience where there was no public radio, public television was in its infancy (great musicians on video taped concerts were my favorite) and the network tv line up was still pretty great. But the record player and radio became my best friends!
Glad you liked "El Paso." An acquaintance was born there and my relatives lived at Fort Bliss, so we know the territory down there. "El Paso" just brings up the flavor of the Old Southwest. Thank you Marty Robbins!
Yours,
