White Christmas - (with Peter Matz Orchestra)

Every year at Christmas, television and cable stations bring out two movies associated with “White Christmas”: “Holiday Inn” and “White Christmas” both starring Bing Crosby. Irving Berlin wrote this song expressly for the 1941 film “Holiday Inn” which took full advantage of the huge Irving Berlin catalog of songs to illustrate different holidays throughout the year. Bing’s recording outsold every single version every year for decades. Rosemary Clooney’s connection began with her participation in the 1954 Paramount Movies’ “White Christmas” where she co-starred with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. Unlike many other versions you will hear, Rosie sings the lead-in verse which relates very well with the state where Berlin wrote this song: California! She’s heard here from 1996 in a very warm mood with Peter Matz leading the orchestra along with the Earl Brown singers. “Merry Christmas to all” is written all over this performance
