Frank Sinatra Sings “Love Is A Many - Splendored Thing”

Posted 11 months ago

One of the most acclaimed of love stories transferred successfully to the screen was "Love Is A Many - Splendored Thing" from 1955, starring Jennifer Jones and William Holden as two lovers who have crossed the barriers of race only to break apart at the end of the film. Champion lyricist Paul Francis Webster and composer Sammy Fain created what amounted to an emotional anthem for lovers everywhere that has stood the test of time. Again, Frank Sinatra recorded this score in 1955, and this recording re-creates successfully the dramatic intensity he always had with a great lyric. Nelson Riddle provides a flowingly lush arrangement that tugs at the heartstrings with a break that never goes over the edge. The wind-up to the finale is a perfect test for Sinatra's considerable chops with strong but not overpowering support from Riddle and his musicians.

    korayem,

I agree! This is a very durable song and will continue to be as long as two people will fall in love with each other.

    Yours sincerely,
