Frank Sinatra Sings “I’ve Got You Under My Skinâ€
-
Artist:

With his contract to Capitol Records expired in 1962, Frank Sinatra was finally able to record the music he wanted for his own label. Along with him came his three greatest arrangers: Billy May, Gordon Jenkins and Nelson Riddle. With Riddle, Sinatra recorded "Sinatra's Sinatra," the songs being re-recordings of Sinatra's greatest hits as selected by his son, Frank Jr. The two recording sessions were held on April 29 and 30, 1963. The first of these and most deservedly so was "I've Got You Under My Skin," so explosively memorable that nobody else could ever think of recording this song in any other way. The chart has a few tweaks involved such as a changed emphasis here and there from Riddle while Sinatra adds a few "damns" to the lyrics. The smashing trombone solo is by Dick Nash this time who sat in for Milt Bernhart who was away on a film project he couldn't back out of at the last minute. Nash meshes his ideas about that famous break with Bernhart's tremendous contribution. "Of course, everyone has to end the solo with the phrase that Milt used, said Nash, "which is Milt's trademark. I felt you had to use that, it fits the tune so well."
