Frank Sinatra Sings “Nice ‘N Easyâ€
-
Artist:

As a total contrast to their "Only the Lonely," Frank Sinatra and Nelson Riddle came up with a great album where the emphasis outwardly was on ballads in an optimistic mood for adults. Each ballad save one served as a special showcase for a soloist, the soloists being George Roberts (bass trombone), Plas Johnson (tenor sax), or Don Fagerquist (trumpet). The sessions were held on March 1, 2, 3 and April 13, 1960. The title track "Nice 'N' Easy" was a last minute addition to the album and nearly didn't make the album. Sinatra hated the song and wouldn't even try it out. Fortunately his manager Hank Sanicola kept playing the song for Sinatra for weeks until the singer was convinced and sent for Riddle with his vocal keys before stepping into a single song session. The original title cut was to have been "The Nearness of You" but that got bumped in favor of this charming rendition of this freshly minted song by Alan Bergman, Marilyn Keith and Lew Spence. Watch out for Sinatra's ad-libbed finger snaps and hand clapping as well as the relaxed, casual sounds Nelson Riddle draws from the orchestra.
