Rosie got her start as a vocalist for the Detroit Dreampop band Velour 100 before going solo as a Singer-Songwriter. She first gained attention through her appearance on the song Parking Lot, from Damien Jurado's album Ghost of David. Well, not really mad. I like Rosie Thomas. But These Friends of Mine (with Sufjan and Denison Witmer) came out yesterday as a digital release. Now I either have to download it, or wait until March for the physical cd to finally arrive. I don't want to wait four months. But I really, really hate downloading albums! I want the actual, touchable cd so I can enjoy the art and design of it. I even burn all my favorite mixes and make covers for them in Photoshop. Good music ou... MORE

You love her. Who wouldn't love Rosie Thomas?
"If Songs Could Be Held" is my favorite Rosie album, partly because I associate how the video for "Pretty Dress" was amazingly done. I find myself able to listen to the album time and time again, often in a row, without boring or becoming even the least bit tired of the songs. What a beautiful voice, with lyrics to accompany it.
She's really got a nice little pocket of wonderful, semiundiscovered music, here.
