Indie rock trio Yo La Tengo are no stranger to the music/movie crossover. In the last three years alone the band has composed music for more than six flicks. Blockbusters these movies weren't, but now the Hoboken-ers will be lending their musical genius to another flick, this one starring some bigger Hollywood hitters, albeit no Oscar winners."According to Pitchfork,":http://www.pitchforkmedia....

It is with great resentment and sour grapes that I report that the McCarren Park Pool Parties, a sickening venue of Gen Y. excess that plagued Brooklyn for a number of years, is continuing for yet another go around, pool or no pool. I thought I had covered the last one with a traditional spit on the grave when Yo La Tengo, Titus Andronicus and Ebony Bones performed the last concert at the poo...
Yo La Tengo had just four early November UK dates planned, all of which are unfortunately over but whilst they're done with our little island for now, they've still got a whole heap of 2009 and 2010 dates lined up for the next few months including shows in Europe, Japan, North America, New Zealand and Australia.
Yo La Tengo, for years, has been on my to-do list. All my friends who love to tell me what I should be listening to and/or wring their hair when I haven’t waded into the waters of a particular band love them, but their massive back catalog always kept making me put it off. Until recently, and I concur. Yo La Tengo deserves all of the accolades they have received; they are an important band.I.
The album title is kind of a joke, after all Yo la Tengo are never going to be a popular band. But at the same time they are a much loved and critically acclaimed band, so in some ways it could be seen as an honest statement....more here.

I have a son who is 14 and he rocks. I mean, literally, with a drum kit and a guitar and sometimes the bass, etc. etc. I have taken him to many shows, exposed him to much music and although I do not play an instrument, I feel I have played my part in his musical upbringing. That said, this weekend he came to my house and brought a friend. This guy is also around 14 and he plays guitar-they are ...

At about 4:30 pm, my phone vibrates. It's a text message from Matthew."are you here?"For him, here is McCarren Pool in Brooklyn, New York, awaiting a performance by Indie Rock Titans, Yo La Tengo. For me, here is the Gladwyne Methodist Church Cemetery in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, inside of a blue 1963 Cadillac Eldorado being driven by 79 year old former New York Met, Frank Thomas.I respond to M...
