and sometimes the music just hits you

Got in a bit ago from another scorcher here in Minnesota. Started off the morning with a 9-2 victory in soccer, had a stellar game in net if I dont say so myself. From there I headed out to a graduation party, I guess it is one of the perks of being a teacher and those perks are few. My family and I were on our way home when I remembered something a co-worker had told me. He told me that Kohls was now selling Vans shoes, and he thought I would like their selection. Since t... Please do not think of Blink-182. Today's entry in my series of song duels (What song does hearing some expression trigger in one's mind?) pits Muse's explosive approach to the topic of Stockholm Syndrome against Yo La Tengo's more fretful one.

When YLT occasionally play this song live, Ira Kaplan tends intentionally to butcher the guitar solo, so I guess he doesn't much like the song. But it's got a certain moody quality that appeals to me.

Muse, on the other han... MORE

Dude, I am so getting to third base tonight...again

Blog post image preview I posted this last night, and for some reason it stopped letting people post comments on it. I could not even go to add my own two cents, and from the responses I was getting I wanted more.I will include the comments from other moggers, and I wish I knew how to include I am's song.Today has been an interesting day for me on MOG. On a post by Crashpryor, I joked about how I was going to be putting the moves on my wife at some point during the night. Alas, as any married cou... MORE

I am about to make my first foray into Yo La Tengo. Yo La Tengo have long been a band whose music I have been meaning to check out, and just never gotten around to. So, I finally got my hands on "I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One", hoping it's a good place to start.

I'm working almost every single day this week, and as slow as we've been lately, I doubt I'll be doing much else for those 8 hours a day other than screwing around on here. And, you know, other places. Insert shifty eyes look here. I have this tic where I'm basically incapable of listening to Yo La Tengo without listening to the Flaming Lips immediately afterwards, and vice versa. I can't explain it, but earlier I had a sort of "all systems have gone haywire" moment i... MORE

A Drop of Blood From a Sugarcube: Are You Scared of Making Money?

It's silly but it makes me feel better. "If you want to write rock lyrics...you must learn about where the hobbits dwell." Hahaha. Yeah, it's true.

Because today's main bit of work involves editing several incredibly gruesome consultant-written articles, I've been Mogging like a Moggerfooker this afternoon in order to deaden the pain. And so, inspired by several others who have shared their favorite music videos, here's the one that best fits that description for me at the moment....
