No Need to WorryOver the past few years, a few of the most talked-about indie bands have been those making music with an ahistorical sense of mythic drama. TV on the Radio, Celebration, Grizzly Bear, and Animal Collective, among others, have been variously and inventively appropriating rock'n'roll's roots in ritualistic sounds, working toward individual aesthetics that merge mutual appreciatio...
Experimental Brooklynites and SG favourites Yeasayer have revealed details of a new record in the works. Going by the name of Odd Blood, the long-player will follow-up their fantastic 2007 début All Hour Cymbals. You'll be able to get those fingerprints of yours all over the new CD when it hits stores on February 8th worldwide via Mute Records (excluding North America which will get it a day la..
Yeasayer just created their own youTube channel yesterday and uploaded the first video today. Here is the brand new video for their single "Wait for the Summer":New Yeasayer channel:http://www.youtube.com/YeasayerTV
We previously mentioned how dope 4AD’s Dark Was The Night compilation for Red Hot was and it still continues to receive entirely too much play by me on a regular basis. Now they’re starting to release videos to go along with the tracks on the album. Yeasayer’s “Tightrope” was a strong track on the comp [...]
Details of their sophomore record, Odd Blood, were just released as well as news of their Guggenheim show. Now, it seems as if the floodgate of all things Yeasayer has opened. Check out the first single “Ambling Alp” below. You can also download it for free over at AmblingAlp.com. Just send in your email and [...]
Here's the first single off of Yeasayer's second album Odd Blood, out February 9th. Weird falsettos, 80's style drums, a catchy ass chorus, some horns, and a bunch of unidentifiable sounds = an awesome new pop gem from Yeasayer.Sidenote: At times this guy's voice sounds like that Gin Blossoms dude. Remember them?Yeasayer - Ambling Alp | YouSendItPigeons and Planes
‘Odd Blood’, due February 2010, has just given us a sign. ‘Ambling Alp’ is the lead single, due for release digitally this November from Secretly Canadian. You can get it with one of those awesome t-shirts and vinyl as the colourful picture above demonstrates so well. And so the song: Well, it’s a difficult one to [...]
I've been posting a lot more NSFW things this year. First it was Girls' video for 'Lust for Life' and The Flaming Lips' video for 'Watching the Planets', now the video hasn't even been released but the preview is very NSFW. Like the other videos it would be a surprise if it...Click the link to read more
Over the past weekend, I saw Yeasayer play a show at a small concert hall here in Los Angeles. Yeasayer's considered part of the experimental rock scene emerging in Brooklyn. I captured a few live clips and interviewed lead singer Chris Keating, who has some interesting things to say about L.A. club owners' affinity for "pay-to-play." Check it out:
It was just forty-eight hours ago when we wrote THIS about the initial two tour dates slowly forming Bat For Lashes now fully fledged UK outing and now today, even more good news has surfaced pertaining to the plans. SG favourites Yeasayer have been confirmed as support for Bat For Lashes October dates which totals out at fourteen nights in all.
We continue to drool for a new Yeasayer release in the near future, but in the meantime we can enjoy an amazing performance of Dark Was The Night standout “Tightrope”
Back in February, 4AD released a compilation featuring some of the most respectable and credible indie acts called Dark Was The Night . The compilation's profit went to The Red Hot Organization in order to help raise awareness for AIDS. Since then, 4AD and Red Hot have released videos of Yeasayer, The National and The Dirty Projectors performing their DWTN songs. Each video was shot by the e...
Brooklyn’s own Yeasayer [MySpace] are prepping for a February 19th release for their new album, Odd Blood, but that doesn’t mean it is too soon to check out the first single. “Ambling Alp” was just released this morning and it effing rips. Sign of good things to come? I hope so. [...]
Yeasayer, the group that gave us the fantastic record All Hour Cymbals and are a hell of a live band, have a new record coming out in February. The 9th to be exact on Secretly Canadian (I love that name) and it will be called Odd Blood. If you want to hear it, try and make it out to the Guggenheim in NYC on Oct. 30 because they will preview you at their show there. If you can’t, you’re like me
