who appears to have singlehandedly sparked a revival of interest in the Ladino music of the Sephardic Jews of Southern Spain. Filled with Spanish, Moroccan and Jewish influences, and topped with the sort of voice that comes along once in a generation, it is like nothing else you have ever heard.

but this track remains utterly breathtaking. The voices of the Iberian Peninsula (Amalia Rodrigues, Dulce Pontes, Misia, Mariza etc) are fairly prominent in my posts, but this tune really does take some beating.The title translates as "I was born in Alamo", although I suspect that Yasmin may not be from Texas
