Other than being that guy who wrote the Amelie official soundtrack, I wasn't familiar with any of Yann Tiersen's other work. But witnessing Tiersen and his accompanying band perform was a joy to watch. Sweeping melodies, inspirational melancholy songs with a rocky edge to them, Tiersen has mixed his classical training and influences to full effect.

Amélie, ou Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, has to be one of my favourite films ever. And it has a fabulous soundtrack. Listening to the soundtrack CD makes me feel all warm and glowy, and it creates images in my head from the film, with it's gloriously rich colours, the bright greens, the strong reds.... It also brings back fabulous memories of times spent in Paris, wandering around street.
