October 2-4th was the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival( link here: http://www.strictlybluegrass.com/ ) in Golden Gate Park and as the fest name implies there was a bevy of bands playing for our musical pleasure. It was actually a gorgeous, sunny fall day with a bit of brisk breeze coming off the ocean and perfect temperature when in the sun. There were something like 5 stages spread throughou...

Driving around a rented car in the Hollywood Hills in 1989, after midnight, I scanned the radio looking for something other than Paula Abdul, Guns & Roses, or Salt N Pepa. Suddenly I stumbled across this melody of simple chords, repeating in this hypnotic pattern, and these voices repeating "she's making it all come true this time" over and over again. It was the perfect soundtrack to my first ...

I have been in a movie mood as of late, and have watched quite a few good films as of late. Last one I watched was Walk The Line, which was one I had been meaning to see for quite some time. I was not sure how I felt about Joaquin Phoenix play Cash as I went in the film, but felt he pulled it off perfectly. Then I thought, who would I want to play me in a movie? I never really listened to much of this group's work (which is more like one guy- Karl Wallinger doing his studio magic), but maybe I should. I like this track, starting out with it's Baby You're a Rich Man vibe and adding other "Beatle Bits" along the way. It's the leadoff track of this album.

i can't believe it took me until 2008 to discover World Party....
