Who?Put dreamy falsetto and baritone vocals in pan. Add 3oz of quirky lyrics and 50oz of gorgeous melodies and fold gently into the mixture. Leave to set, sprinkle with refined flamboyancy and serve in room temperature. And I care because?- They are unique. The four piece out of Leeds in the UK are a young bunch with one album under their belts and a good amount of praise already heaped upon them. On Two Dancers the group has crafted an often spellbinding, daring and ultimately charming album. I am always a bit suspicious of an album that is sung almost entirely in falsetto. It's a personal thing but it often strikes me as overly theatrical and ca...

Having given us one of the most lurid and arresting albums all year in Two Dancers, the Leeds-based Wild Beasts are let loose on London and give us such a performance that we (as they say) still got the taste dancin' on our tongues.

I was actually sent the wrong Wild Beasts album and for a good while I was under the impression I was listening to Two Dancers when I actually was listening to 2008’s Limbo Panto.I ended up digging Limbo Panto and it’d probably rate as a 4 and a 4.5 if I put it under my [...]Related posts:Wild Light – Adult Nights Reviews Wild Light is a band out of New Hampshire...Anticipated Soundtracks
“Two Dancers”, if nothing else, proves that surprisingly fantastic sophomore albums are the best kind. The flamboyant indie rock of debut “Limbo Panto” was undeniably interesting and showcased their potential, but was far too reliant on standout single “The Devil’s Crayon”. After “Limbo Panto”, Wild Beasts were consigned to the “near miss” category; we were excited about t
Wild Beasts combine indie rock with a folk twist and a vocalist more operatic than Klaus Nomi. Indeed, Hayden Thorpe’s falsetto vocal gymnastics are reminiscent of what Mika and The Scissor Sisters could have been, and are countered with the Richard Thompson-like bass vocals of Tom Fleming. Two Dancers is less consciously avant-garde and indulgent, [...]
~ A few words:This is not going to be objective and cool-headed. Those are not qualities I'm known for, anyway. But right now, I am deeply enchanted. I saw Wild Beasts open for Foals last night, and I'm still in a daze.Brilliantly written pop songs dipped in melody, harmony, quirkiness, and theatrics, blessed with two enormously TALENTED vocalists. I wish I knew the technical terms to describe ...
...is exactly what I'm doing right now. Wild Beasts have a new album coming out! What do you mean "who?" That's "who": http://mog.com/Anna/blog/211178The album is coming out via Domino Records on August 3rd, and it's called Two Dancers. I cannot wait! And would you look at that, a new song has already magically appeared. And it's a good one. I mean a ridiculously good one. I remember hearing it...
It's here, it's finally here, and I'm as blissful as a vampire in a blood bank! SO...what are you up to tonight? Fancy dress and crazy makeup? Trick or treating? Bars and parties? Horror movies? Looking yourself in the mirror? Cracking some skulls and starting some fires? Spooky music? Do tell!I'm going to put on my bunny ears (and possibly a pair of cat ears, and a magic ghost wand and a pair ...

The Devil's Crayon sees Tom Fleming swap vocals duties with usual lead singer Hayden Thorpe. With its refrain of "We are so many tiny pieces" and Tom's yearning delivery, the song shimmers in widescreen around a sense of location, melody and wonder at the scale of things. The Devil's Crayon sounds like the theme song to a new kind of very English, (probably un-filmable) road movie. http://www....
