Record Review: "Fort Nightly" by White Rabbits

If you thought ragtime was dead as a musical genre, my friends, you couldn’t be more correct. The New Orleans street carnival stylee has, like Brandon Flowers’ mustache, been out of fashion since the 1920s. Thing is, nobody informed White Rabbits. The Missouri-born indie rockers have infused their debut album with antique sounds from the land we call Dixie. And, by the look of their press photos, they've got the cool vintage suits to match. _Fort Nightly_, then, is cho... MORE

White Rabbits: In A Hole

Blog post image preview One of the things I can't stand about living here in Spokane is that the hip indie bands never seem to come my way. Which is why I was surprised last week when I checked pollstar and saw that White Rabbits were coming. White Rabbits are a band from New York (St. Louis originally, from what I understand) who actually live together. All of them. Pitchfork loves them, Rolling Stone things they're "hype", and before the show last night my opinion landed somewhere in the midd... MORE

Blog post image preview White Rabbits. I'm convinced they will be very important and well-listened to in the indie scene soon.
They are similar to Pela, The National, Menomena, Tapes 'n' Tapes. More band members doesn't always mean fuller sound, but it does for these guys!
Catchy and instantly memorable melodies, half-way decent lyrics, all-the-way decent musicianship. Fun beats. Anyway, try them on for size if you already haven't! White Rabbits - While We Go Dancing Video

White Rabbits Touring With Kaiser Chiefs & Tokyo Police Club

If there's a new band you should know about its the White Rabbits. So loved are they by fellow musicians that they are embarking on fall tours with both the Kaiser Chiefs and Tokyo Police Club. Before they zig-zag the Rockies, the White Rabbits are going to be doing it solo, starting September 6th at Vassar College. We found this introductory footage about the band thanks to VBS.TV. They sleep in one room, in seven twin beds like Snow White's little dwarves! Awe, how cute!... MORE

Blog post image preview It doesn't look like there's a lot of hype about this band in the MOGosphere, so here goes...

I got home from school, got my keys and took my brother's car and immediately drove the required 35 minutes to my favorite record store. Why? Cos I wanted to see the White Rabbits play. I can study for that European History test later, but who knows how long it will be before these guys hit it big? Every bit of buzz surrounding them is worth it.
I got there about five ... MORE

Boy, Where Are You Hiding?

One of my favorite new bands, if not my number one band at the moment, is White Rabbits. Their debut Fort Nightly is so fantastic I almost couldn't believe it. I somehow managed to stumble upon it on the day of release and after hearing "Kid on my Shoulders" I decided to take a chance. Every song is great, lots of talent in the six-piece. I love the piano work and the vocals especially. Here's my mini-review:

One thing you have to give White Rabbits credit for is th... MORE

Here's another accidental tune. It's quite catchy. I should give credit to the site I stumbled upon to find it. http://wiredset.com/mp3blog.php
