Please, Please, Please Do Not Go & a bottle of Drakkar

Here's another tale from my musical history. A few years after Mike Smith & DK came into my life. This one also involves a lovely lad, one quite sweet on me… & though our relationship(s) were short-lived … one was less than 24 hours… oh yes kiddies; they meant the world to me, as did Brando. He was the first boy I ever "went out with" ;) But I thought he was kidding - trying to save me

So Wednesday, my best friend/roommate and I went to see the Violent Femmes play at The House of Blues in Anaheim, CA - otherwise known as Disney Hell-Sprawl. For the most part, the evening was pretty fun. Even the traffic-consumed drive down from Pasadena wasn't too terrible (mostly because we got to see the Mesopotamian outlet mall, complete with faux-ancient Persian sphinxes). After nearly ge...

The Gateway Album

So, yesterday "atman":http://mog.com/atman read my mind and did a post I was thinking about doing today. Go read it. Does music shape our personalities or do our personalities shape our musical preferences?I don't know. Although you couldn't tell it from looking at me, in my soul I am a punk/post-punk princess with a healthy measure of dork thrown in for balance. I define myself by my music...

Prove My Love

I'm here to share my Violent Femmesy frame of mind.and this favourite quote:"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming 'Wow What a Ride'" - Hunter S. Thompson

From O'Shag to your computer

College has finally met me. Here I am in O'Shag, one of the luckier draws in my life. A clean, co-ed dorm with mostly upperclassmen. Thankfully, they're really cool. So yeah. Also, Blister in the Sun is fucking awesome.

Good Bad-Mood Music

I might have gotten the album tag wrong on this one, but all my vfs are loaded in the car CD player, the cases are there and I didn't label my ITunes. And I'm too grumpy to bother anyway. Days like this I'm glad that I get to be in the car alone once in a while and can snarl along with the Violent Femmes:

I Danced

From the Freak Magnet liner notes: "I Danced", lyrics from the poem "I Danced Before I Had Two Feet," by Max Dunn, music by Gordon Gano. And when I, Naomi, heard it - I got up on the sturdy peasant feet I grew for this lifetime, and I danced, too!

I'm in a Moggy mood today! There are only 2 femmes songs I detest; I'm a mother first and foremost so if you know their music, you can probably guess it's Gimme The Car and Country Death Song that cross my boundaries. But the rest? Well, I pretty much love 'em all (sad about blister in the sun being sold out to peddle burgers, or whatever - I guess everybody has mortgages to pay). Here's one...
