Village People is a concept disco group formed in the late 1970s. The group is as well known for its outrageous on-stage costumes as for its catchy tunes and suggestive lyrics. I'm speechless after seeing this clip. It's just about everything I want from a YouTube video - weird? (check) from the seventies or early 80's? (check) Re- appropriation of American Pop Culture by another culture? (check). The background dancers would make Tom of Finland proud, though. San Diego prosecutors threw out abuse charges against Victor Edward Willis, the original policeman in the 1970s music group the Village People. Willis was arrested last month on suspicion of attacking his live in girlfriend.
His girlfriend called police to report that a man had choked her, put a knife to her throat and intended to kill her, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Police on the scene later report that she did not appear hurt.

I continue to be amazed by the videos you can find on Youtube.com. Bizarre stuff you never know existed. Strange stuff you wish never existed.
Case in point, the video for Sex Over The Phone, a 1985 tune by the Village People. Truth by told, I thought the band broke up back in 1981. (Wishful thinking.) I'm still mad that my parents made me see "Can't Stop The Music" twice in the movie theaters.
