AMG Review of Fall Sounds
Nitsuh Abebe
All Music GuideWhile Fall Sounds' successor, Of Color Bright, added a spacy sense of orchestration to the core of Amon Krist and Trey Many's songs, Fall Sounds itself is far more grounded, minimal, and less polished than its follow-up. One could easily argue that this sound suits the band more than the elaborate 4AD-style art-rock of later releases -- its open simplicity is frequently more emotive than Of Color Bright, in the same sense that a Cocteau Twins album like Victorialand is more emotive than Four Calendar Cafe.
