I'm a huge fan of Pause Edited Cassette Art. To use a famous example, there is an ingenious Captain Beefheart piece (forgive me if I'm remembering Trout Mask incorrectly) "The Dust Blows Forward and the Dust Blows Back" which is poetry that he created by recording each line separately, pausing the tape while he thought of the next one.
