AMG Review of Something's Mighty Wrong
Ed Hogan
All Music GuideTyrone Davis' Something's Mighty Wrong finds the singer in a grand showcase that vigorously updates his brand of Chicago soul. The radio-aired allad "Running in and out of My Life" offers some of Davis' most heart-tugging vocals ever. "Big Cat" has a pumping bassline like the earlier hit "Ever Lovin' Girl," the swinging "Aint Gonna Get It," and the charming "I'm Learning." Produced by Leo Graham, the singer and the synths are tastefully balanced in the mix, with the focus kept on Davis' soulful vocals. Along with Call Tyrone, this is easily one of the singer's best latter-day albums.
