Oh man, so I accidentally came upon something spectacular today that I never knew exsisted... I was at Best Buy today, where I picked up Jenny Lewis and The Watson Twin's album, Rabbit Fur Coat. Then, being the good friend that I am, I took it to meet my friend Travis and allow him to enjoy the musical goodness with me. (Aren't I such a great friend?) Anyways, after hearing the song Handle With Care , which has M Ward and Ben Gibbard accompanying her (!!!!), Travis go... MORE

Traveling Wilburys - Rattled

Artist:
Album: Volume 1
Track:
(138)
Blog post image preview Seems like this collaboration got lost, not enough attention etc. Maybe everyone was caught up in too much other music at the time (late 80's) But, honestly, could there have been a more historic collaboration? Bringing together Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty. Stellar musicians doing what they do best, producing incredible music. Take a listen to "Rattled" and listen for that patent throat gargle of Roy Orbison. Love it!!

The Traveling Wilburys Collection

Album: The Traveling Wilburys Collection
Blog post image preview Bob, a Beatle, The Big O, and a brace of others in a lovingly-packaged three-disc set It's remarkable that arguably the most high-calibre supergroup of all time came about because one of its members needed a throwaway song for the flipside of a single. Back among the big-sellers with his 1987 album Cloud Nine, George Harrison had a half-formed ditty called Handle With Care which required a little polish to bring it up to B-side standard. And though it may be common for f... MORE

The Traveling Wilburys Collection

Artist:
Album: The Traveling Wilburys Collection
The newly remastered Traveling Wilburys Collection was released today and I didn't waste any time picking up my copy. Disk 1 is a CD with the Volume One album on it but also includes two (never officially released) bonus tracks: "Maxine" and "Like A Ship". George Harrison handles the lead vocal on Maxine and I already owned a copy of this one on the George Harrison bootleg Pirate Songs (edited a bit shorter here but the sound quality is of course much better). Like A Ship... MORE

We pre-ordered the Rhino new release of the Traveling Wilburys 3 disc set and, of course, really enjoy it. We are curious of the history of a different 3 disc Wilbury collection we found online recently. The DVD disc in particular is different and contains a whole lot more "bonus" material icluding two versions of the Wilbury Twist that are totally different that the more MTV styled video that Rhino offered. It also has at least 90 minutes of what appear to be consum... MORE

Some Have Sentimental Value That Cannot Be Erased...

Album: Volume III

It must have been over a year ago when I read they were going to reissue the Traveling Wilburys albums. I have been waiting rather impatiently ever since. I was finally rewarded today with an early birthday present from my Mom, who also loves the Wilburys. (I'm pretty sure she'd like me to hurry up and let her borrow the CDs.) It amazes me how well I remember these songs. I admit I haven't listened to them in quite a while. (Somewhere I have a cassette copy of both ... MORE
