All Music GuideThis CD is devoted to a concert featuring a concerto by Christian Gavillet, with special guests Toots Thielemans and Fred Hersch joining the combined Big Band and Chamber Orchestra of Lausanne. The concerto holds one's interest and proves to stimulate both Thieleman's and Hersch's playing. The orchestra features a number of fine soloists, including flugelhornist Matthieu Michel and the composer on baritone sax. The two encores feature Thielemans and Hersch as a duo, an added bonus to a very enjoyable evening.
