This is just a guess at how old "Mr. Benedetto" was when he recorded this track, but he sure sounds "younger than springtime" in the "Jazz/Vocalist/Take Five" collection. I'll let more knowledgeable Tony Bennet fans figure out when this stereo recording was made.
Tony Bennett is 81 today. I was lucky enought to see him in concert three times: Radio City, Carnegie Hall, and the Blue Note (for non-New Yorkers: a pocket-sized jazz club in the Village). You watch him, and you think, my god, is there anyone who loves performing as much as he does? So here I sit listening to my birthday present from my mom (the big 25, thank you very much) the Tony Bennett Duets CD that was released by Target for his 80th birthday. I dig old school Tony Bennett and jazz of course, but something about hearing Juanes sing "The Shadow of Your Smile" that doesn't do it for me.
