Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers put on a great show in Charlotte last night. The line up of Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, Ron Blair, Scott Thurston & Steve Ferrone hasn't changed and I was glad of that. The set list went was pretty "hit-oriented" and went as follows: You Wreck Me, Listen To Her Heart, I Won't Back Down, Even The Losers, Free Fallin', Mary Jane's Last Dance, Cabin Down Below, End Of The Line, Breakdown, Saving Grace (with an extended jam afterwards) A Face In... Around 11 this morning, while doing my usual rounds of procrastinational activities preparatory to starting any actual work, I read deadmandeadman’s morning post and thus became aware by chance that today is Superbowl Sunday. Huh!, imagine that, I thought as I enjoyed the attached Medly and wished a fun day for a fellow mogger. Because I am a nice person. Eventually I got to work and by hours later had edited up a document so that it read real good and headed downstairs... MORE
This is one of my favorite Tom Petty & The Heartbreaker tunes from his best album. It was under 10 degrees here this morning and I got no sleep last night but this song still gets me going.
Peter Bogdanovich created an "exemplary" and engaging rock documentary about Tom Petty called "Running Down A Dream." Despite being four-hours long, the story is fascinating. The movie commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Heartbreakers' debut album. Bogdanovich told the UK Telegraph:

DVD disk 3 is a concert... MORE
Although I have not abandoned my daily treks through the MOG-iverse, I’ve been deep in the belly of the Hollywood beast all this week. Riding down Sunset, past the Whiskey and the Roxy at midnight. Parking in the shadow of the Capitol Records tower, and running into a convenience store for a bottled coffee. Stopping off for an afternoon screening at Mann’s Theater on Hollywood Boulevard, while on the sidewalk, the tourists get their photos taken with actors in Spider-Man a... MORE
Morning on the outskirts of town;
Sitting in the traffic alone.
You don't know what it means to be free
It was too good to be true . . . I've crashed bendblock and matt's Program. This week is my first "official" week on The Program and we're listening to the Heartbreakers "Into the Great Wide Open" and M. Ward's "End of Amnesia." Today my Petty spin was during lunch. My office at James Scott Farrin overlooks interstate 40, the great stretch of highway that goes cle... MORE
