AMG Review of Live Till You Die
Patrick Kennedy
All Music GuideConstructed to incorporate just about every recording format available, Live Till You Die does just that, moving from multi-track live recordings to In the Eyes of God session outtakes to radio recordings to four-track demos to tape loops to audio captured from VHS and transferred. As such, it is not as effective as the band's studio efforts, but it does offer a glimpse into the creative process -- as well as the live realm -- of this challenging band. Today Is the Day also tackles a few peculiar covers, including Bad Company's "Feel Like Makin' Love," the Beatles' "Why Don't We Do It in the Road," and Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game." It may function as a stop-gap between albums, but it's an engaging listen.
