All Music GuideHow did avant-gardist Tim Berne get signed to Columbia? During his relatively brief alliance with that media giant, the passionate altoist was somehow able to continue recording his uncompromising music with apparently no real interference. On this set, he teams up with the amazing guitarist Bill Frisell, cellist Hank Roberts and percussionist Alex Cline for five explorative pieces that one can safely bet did not receive much airplay.
