From the Myspace blog of Thievery Corporation:
"New Album Sampler Posted!
For a sneak peek at what the upcoming Thievery Corporation album will sound like, check out the "Radio Retaliation Sampler" that was just posted on MySpace! More album details coming soon... release date is set for September 23rd, 2008!"
It's a 10 minute sampler covering several tracks from the new album. It sounds quite promising and worth a listen.

Hmm. There'll have to be a Part 3 to the below post, which'll have the backstory. Listen to the song while reading, as a soundtrack. It's from the Instrumental Edits CD of Various Chimeras by Shinjuku Zulu, at iTunes Here Cont'd from Part 1 ...and she began to share those stories-- neighbors visiting from a nearby homestead heard her read to the children and asked for a story. (She wrote one for them about a fish who wanted to climb mountains.) Other neighbors began t... MORE
Ayahuasca is a psychotropic drug used in South America by shamans in religious ceremonies to induce transpersonal experiences. Some of the experiences sound wonderful (plants speaking directly to you, instant healing), some perhaps a little frightening (vomiting black snakes, and um, bug people)... but all are ultimately transformative. (Listen to this News For the Soul archived radio show on the topic; it's about a third of the page down, dated Feb. 15th, HERE ) I... MORE
I just received the latest email from ESL Music with good news for their fans Down Under: "Catch Thievery Corporation playing their first LIVE, full band dates of 2008. Thievery will join Kanye West, Cypress Hill, The Rapture and many more at the annual Good Vibrations Festival in February 2008. Thievery Corporation and their full band featuring live percussion, bass, guitar, sitar, horns and a cast of singers will be playing traveling to Australia for the first time to ... MORE
I promised I would write about at least one other song on this album, and here it is! (Before I get down to work) Originality, like Dirty Little Secret, is one of the gems of this album. The beat is definitely among the best on the album. It exhibits the same rhythmic heaviness juxtaposed with ambience found in many of the other songs on the album. So what's the difference? Well, there's definitely a dub feel here, and definitely a reggae feel here. Dirty Little Secr... MORE
I'm making no claim to have discovered some hidden gem in Thievery Corporation. They should already be a well documented group, and if they aren't, then get to it people! In any case, I'm deviating from hip-hop in this post simply because this song is wicked f-ckin' awesome (yep, from Boston). Sarah Mclachlan's voice is like a piece of fine silk on top of the music, and the reverb is dialed in just right. Her voice doesn't echo out into oblivion, but it's not being con... MORE
It's nice to be back :) I missed MOG.
The latest ESL Music newsletter posted a link to an interview conducted by Kate Paul of NBC4 in DC/MD. Here's the link:
http://video.nbc4.com/player/?id=117231
While the interview doesn't offer a lot of new information, Rob and Eric do mention that they are already in the studio working on their new album which, according to the newsletter, "will probably be ready for release in early 2008 (fingers crossed)."
Disillusionment continues, this time under the dub wise Amerimacka [America the Macka(Mocker)?]. A beautiful tune. I love ESL music.

I had signed up for MOG about a monthand a half ago but never did anythign with it. Finally downloaded the Mog-o-Matic and will now participate. Most of my music blogging has been at my Dad's Car RadioBlog. But I am looking forward to participating here. I think I'll upload a special Thievery Corporation remix first. On the night of July 4th, 2007 after a long hot day we had sa series of evening thundershowers. As we sat on our porch listening to the Thievery Corporati... MORE
