A lot of pop songs from the 60's have dark, somewhat edgy and subversive lyrics... I just never picked up on it when I listened as a little kid.
This one isn't too bad- summer-style sadness. She's not there, but at least she was, once.

Legendary 60's rockers The Zombies are headlining a benefit gig for ChildLine in London in March. I was thrilled to hear this as I was trapped in traffic coming home from the enormous Bond-villain lair type shopping centre in a quarry in Kent, Bluewater. Colin Blunstone (vocals), Rod Argent (keyboards/vocals), Chris White (bass/vocals), and Hugh Grundy (drums) will be playing the entire LP from start to finish at London's Shepherds Bush Empire on March 7 and 8 next year. It will be the first time that the original band has played the songs together live onstage.
