My Mog-friend Meghan and I made a little drive to the big city, Nashville, yesterday to run a few errands, do some "Goodwill hunting", and pig out at Noshville downtown. I like to be the ipod-DJ if I am riding bitch (quite the lucrative position) and thought that our arrival required a White Stripes soundtrack. I had no idea that Jack White and his wife lived in middle Tennessee. "Why would someone DO that?" was my first thought. Then I remembered that he also kicked of the R... MORE

Henry and Liv (my kids) and I were rocking out tonight while Mom got some work done. Livvy shook her butt, and offered these deadpan reviews of some of the songs: Dead Leaves on the Dirty Ground by the White Stripes -- "Sounds like a remote control plane by itself." Idioteque by Radiohead-- "Sounds like aliens." Blue Orchid bu the White Stripes -- "Sounds like a race car." She's a pretty spot on critic, huh?... MORE

I'm looking to become a fan of bands that still exist, so if anything comes to mind, by all means, send it my way! Bands that play instruments are preferred; bonus points if they play them well. Also, downloadable music is an extreme plus. I don't trust any of you quite enough yet to pay $25 for a CD with nothing more than your recommendation to go on! This isn't a slight to you so much as it is a reference to the very slight amount of money in my wallet. -K... MORE

Conquest! The least-likely single in the past 3 months, with a nifty little video to match. I told you there was a spoiler warning. If you get pissed at me, it's your own damned fault.

Yesterday I reported that The White Stripes had recorded their single "Conquest" in spanish and would be releasing it as "Conquista" along with a spanish version video. Someone uploaded the video for "Conquista" today, so here it is: For more info about the release:

If you are in the record shop looking for music by The White Stripes, you might want to look under Las Rayas Blancas (spanish for The White Stripes). The duo have recorded their hit single "Conquest" in spanish and will release it as "Conquista" by Las Rayas Blancas.
According to a report on NME , the single will be available on CD and 7-inch (as usual) and features the spanish-version "Conquista" plus an acoustic version of "Conquest" performed by a mariachi ba... MORE

The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan (XL)
Year: 2005
Producer: Jack White
Art Direction: The Third Man Critic John Doran Says
"By their fifth album, The White Stripes have come to represent that rarity, a credible modern Rock band with a career - rather than a lifespan comparable to that of the average butterfly. This has allowed them the luxury of being able to experiment with myriad new styles. Five albums in, The White Stripes' fire and imagination show no sign... MORE

I needed something to shake me out of my Sunday morning doldrums - leave it to Jack & Meg to do just that.

The White Stripes posted the first message of the new year on their website today, but it's not good news for US consumers. Apparently the band have just discovered that the 7" singles of Conquest that were released in the States at the end of last year have "incorrect stamp stickers" on them and need to be replaced. Well, do they need to be? Maybe this makes them more valuable to collectors? Maybe not.
Anyhow, the band are interested in making things right wi... MORE

After Meg White's bout of "acute anxiety" left her unable to travel thus forcing the group to cancel all their 2007 US tour (nearly 20 dates), doubt was cast upon the future of The White Stripes live show.
In a recent interview with the LA Times, Jack didn't do much to quell concerns of fans who fear they may never get to see the dynamic duo live, ever again.
"I don't know," he said, when asked whether the band's current hiatus would ever come to an end. "I guess it... MORE
