ok, so -the Black Kites have been invited to perform at Pop Montreal in October. we're all so very excited - me especially, 'cause i haven't played in Canada since 1995 or so. I'm also excited because Nick Cave is going to be there too (i just hope we aren't scheduled at the same time...)there's some sort of voting thing going on too - it's a little bit of a hassle, but if you've got the time -...

The Verve have posted their entire album, in track order, on their MySpace page for one week. Turn up the volume and give it a listen a few times, in the proper setting, before posting a haphazard review...http://www.myspace.com/theverve
The Verve might well be gearing up for the release of Forth, their comeback LP (review coming soon), but frontman Richard Ashcroft already has his sights set on further solo adventures~~
This song is growing on me. Here is the video for the first single "Love Is Noise" off The Verve's new album Forth, out August 19th.The Verve - Love Is Noise I also dig the band's atmospheric album art for Forth.
There are melodies you never get sick of hearing and personally feel attached to in both nostalgic and dazzling ways. Voices giving shape to those melodies, instruments and noise giving life to those notes. Bands forming that magic in spirit with bone, blood, skin and feelings. No matter how long it does take for the years to get worn off over the melodies, they constantly manage to reincarnate...
The world of psych pop is having a bit of a nostalgia attack right now, what with the mega-B-sides compilation from Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine actually getting back together, something appearing from the Gallagher brothers, and new releases from the Verve and the Dandy Warhols. Not to mention all those first-time-around bands taking a whack at the sound.I can't say that anyone i...
Sometimes it can be a bit strange when an older band that hasn't put an album out this century attempts to come back onto the scene. It can be downright ugly. Not the case with The Verve's Forth. It's a pretty solid reemergence of a band that many people adored back in the day. Forth [...]
You can read my review of The Verve's Forth here at Treblezine.comhttp://treblezine.com/reviews/2866-The_Verve_Forth.htmlThe VerveForthMegaforce2008At 2005's Live 8, after describing "Bittersweet Symphony" as the "best song ever written," Chris Martin introduced the man, the myth and the legend they call Mad Richard as "The best singer in the world." That singer was Richard Ashcroft. Ever sinc...
It's eleven years since Urban Hymns, and perhaps even more so the single "Bittersweet Symphony" which set the UK alternative rock world on fire. Breaking up shortly after the release of the album, The Verve went their separate ways - Richard Ashcroft released a string of pretty uninteresting solo records, with The Verve's drummer Peter Salisbury playing on them. Simon Tong went on to various pr...
Stream the new Verve album via MySpace now. My main concern with this album was that it would be closer to Richard Ashcroft's solo material, which has been steadily leaning more and more puss rock, than to the guitar heavy...~~
Finally, The Verve have come back to us. The LONG awaited follow up to the near perfect Urban Hymns is set to release of August 25. It's a sprawling and a gorgeous album, with most of the songs clocking in at over 5 minutes...enjoy it - it may have to last us another ten years or so! Here is a tune from the record... The Verve - 'Valium Skies' MP3 ~~
Oasis. Blur. You probably like one or the other. But it's doubtful that you even question for a second whether you like The Verve. When we look back at the golden age of British rock they were in the front line, along with other bands that are still making awesome records (Supergrass, Portishead etc). The Verve have always stuck out as being different than their peers... and now they are back....
Brit-pop act the Verve will release their first album in eleven years this August. The band disbanded after making 1997's Urban Hymans, best known for the big sound of "Bittersweet Symphony" and frontman Richard Ashcroft recorded three solo albums. The Verve's new album Forth hits the U.S. on August 18th and everywhere else the day before.
