I also dig the band's atmospheric album art for Forth.
Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft that festival founder Michael Eavis opposed the band's headline slot on Sunday (June 29). Eavis's daughter Emily rebuffed the claim, saying "that's not true at all," reports the BBC Either there was some behind the scenes drama or it could just be nothing much and just some off the cuff remark. With all the drama of the Noel and Jay-Z episode, it's hard to say. Ashcroft Addressing the crowd in front of the Pyramid stage, Ash... MORE
If you were somewhat under-whelmed by the forthcoming single Love Is Noise, perhaps the band's next installment, the true-to-form Mover will float your boat as it did mine. Back is McCabe's phenomenal guitar, Jones' bass and Salisbury's rhythm. The groove is most definitely on.......but download it here as it wont be contained on the new album Forth and is available for only 6 more days!
Brit-pop act the Verve will release their first album in eleven years this August. The band disbanded after making 1997's Urban Hymans, best known for the big sound of "Bittersweet Symphony" and frontman Richard Ashcroft recorded three solo albums. The Verve's new album Forth hits the U.S. on August 18th and everywhere else the day before. Tha album's first single "Love Is Noise" is currently streaming on the band's MySpace Page. Upon hearing the first two notes of ... MORE
After a 13 year break from seeing The Verve play live, I couldn't fault their return performance...
Welcome back!
The guy looks, acts and is a rock god. Can you even find a way to counter argue?
Here is a clip of them playing Bitter Sweet Symphony. Not their best song, but look at that guy!
Who doesnt know this song? Greatness from back in the day.
It had an awesome music video to go along with it too. Here:
while I won't be able to mog every day and play texas holdem for long hours on the internet I will at least have somthing other than pawn slips in my wallet. So from all of us here to all of you wherever you are "we'll meet again don't know where don't know when but I know we'll meet again some sunny day"
From ananova.com The Verve have joined a mass of EMI artists threatening to withold their next album. Wigan's premier rock outfit now join a long line of artists including Robbie Williams and Coldplay by protesting against the label's threatened jobs cuts. Richard Ashcroft and bandmates are now threatening to withhold their next album until they receive assurances about the record label’s financial security. The band's long-awaited follow-up to 1997s Urban Hymns wa... MORE
I'm absolutely head over heels in love with The Verve....I know it's not like they're a new band or anything, but seriously if you don't listen to them you totally should....Richard Ashcroft completely rules....which is a lot for me to say since the only other person I absolutely adore is Noel Gallagher....so if you don't listen to Oasis...you should do that too!! I'm not a total loser....I just know what I love....and The Verve is definitely on that list!!
So in my search for new Verve material, I found that the Verve released a song on NME a few months ago. It is a jam from one of their first studio sessions back. It is no longer available on NME website, but if you're industrious, you can find it my friend.
I also found that they played a new song during the comeback shows. It's called Sit & Wonder. Not great quality, but it can be seen here
I was listening to the Verve the other day and decided they are sublime. I needed more Verve at that moment, I just needed more. I went online to look for some bootlegs or something. Maybe buy a $20 import. Much to my surprise I find the Verve reunited last month and are planning a new release for next year. Absolutely unbelievable. I searched youtube and found this guy has some pretty good videos from one of the early shows. This Gravity Grave version is as good as... MORE
