Directed by Sean Gratton from the album, Sun Gangs.Three weeks after the release of Sun Gangs in April 2009, Henning Dietz(drummer), left the band after the birth of his daughter. Disturbing images fill this faux news report style video. The interweaving between the lyrics and the stock footage is done quite well. And some of the clips are disturbing, those with weak stomachs beware. At the end...
We may finally get to see The Veils live. We miss them every time they are in town. The band will play Spaceland on July 15th. If you are in the OC, catch them the night before at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa. SF friends, The Veils play Bottom Of The Hill on the 13th. Buy tickets for Los Angeles and Costa Mesa shows here. SF here. Watch The Letter from The Veils new album Sun Gangs
The Veils have just finished up their last tour date in Europe and are now set to fly out to North America for a rather large tour in July. The London based collective will start their twenty date tour in Vancouver, Canada on July ninth and will finish on August 8th in Brussels for the Dranouter Festival.
(Originally published on GodIsInTheTVzine.co.uk, QOOB.TV)The story that links me to The Veils is just hours-old and I will let you find out about it as it came up during the chat I had with Finn Andrews and Sophia Burns in the dressing room of Dingwalls, in Camden, last 15th of April for the first date of their tour and launch party for their third studio album “Sun Gangs”, out on 6th April. As
I had to go to Italy for the holidays and watch the night hours of MTV to find out about this amazing band: The Veils. They're apparently (and wrongly!) underrated and not taken in much consideration by the media here in the UK, which is something I cannot come to understand. More than a few of the bands out there who claim any kind of link to the "indie" sound *cough*thekooks*cough* aren't half
The Veils newest record 'Sun Gangs' was an unmistakable gem that was largely under-the-radar, garnering a fair amount of acclaim but never really earning the recognition it deserved. We personally loved it (our review lays HERE) and we especially held a soft spot for this track here, the album closer Begin Again.
When you find out a band hail from London, it's always rather discouraging. Lately, a slew of artists have risen from nothing from the big smoke into pop-hits and all of them ride on the wave of fame due to apparently "encapsulating" their origins.
It's been a long year since The Veils were in town and, in that time, the hopeless devotion fans here feel for them has grown even stronger. The four-piece New Zealand band (now based in London) plays songs quite different from other bands that have come from NZ and toured here such as the bubblegum pop music of The Brunettes or the psychedelic pop sounds of The Ruby Suns. The Veils seem to ...
I think the advertisement for the Michael Stipe interview that keeps popping up on this site subconsciously influenced me to post this cover of "Drive" by the Veils.I really like it but nothing could come close to the original R.E.M. version. The video for their song "Advice for Young Mothers To Be" is also nice/ I don't think they like babies very much though.
Just wondering if anyone knows when the Veils most recent album "Nux Vomica" will be released in the US because I've been checkin Amazon and the only one that's for sale is the import and as much as I like the Veils, I don't feel like paying $35.00 for the CD...
These lyrics and this song say it all for me today... This is my last post for a little while, a long while, no time, an endless time as I fly to Bangkok and onto NongKhai near the border of Laos/Thailand this morning...I dont know what awaits me at NongKhai and yep I am a little nervous, a lot excited and filled with an overwhelming feeling that this is exactly what i should be doing right now...
Another day, another discovery...I can't believe I have never heard this band before. It was love at first listen though, excuse me now...i have to go acquire every Veils song that I can find...love does strange things to a man
I am sure I have posted on these guys before, but I have been listening to their record 'Nux Vomica' all day and had to share again...I love the shakiness in his voice
Ever get an album...like it, then for whatever reason totally but it on the backburner? I think, in my defense, I found the Veils and this cd 'Nux Vomica' when I was in the midst of an amazing music acquisition spree...Anyway, thanks to the strange and mysterious power of 'the shuffle' I have spent all day with this record...incredible! This tune came on and I haven't looked back for hours...
