this song has a very strong 60s vibe, you can tell the culture was beginning to spread across the country
this song is just a classic song, just listen and you will find out way
With only Otis Williams dating back to the group's most famous hits, "The Temptations" is more a concept or a lineage than the actual aggregation that had chart success throughout the '60s and '70s. But while other historical bands have only tenuous connections to their ancestry (and careers that simply retread past glories), the Temptations are still quite vital and creative. Their first album for New Door covered hits that had been recorded by other Motown artists; this ... MORE
After posting the Dramatics I had to do one on the Temptations. This was the last Norman Whitfield Production for them. This was the follow up to Papa was a rolling stone, It has got to be the longest Temptation song. You can't mention the Tempts without talking about the Four Tops, Here is one of my favorite memories of them together that I just found.
Possibly one of the funkiest tracks the Temptations ever did. Even though this situation never happened to me, I can't get past that the line "When he died, all he left us was alone" is one of the best lyrics ever written into a pop song.

First the original by the temptations
And second, the band who got me into this music again.
This is the Josh Dion Band playing Papa Was a Rollin' Stone in NYC a few months ago.

The album cover gives you that trippy feel along the way too...
Well, this is the third Temptations album I have posted about. Got to say something about my love for this group. This album is breathtaking. Starts with Funku Music Sho Nuff Turns Me On, which is one of the best starts to any album. Then the social statement in Run Charlie Run, followed by 11:45 of the epic Papa Was A Rolling Stone. Over to side 2, we are taken on a four track journey of more music perfection. I just keep coming back to this album again and again. Not... MORE
