I just found this rare (by my standards) pre-Is This It demo by everyone's favorite musical geniuses, The Strokes.
Says Julian Casablancas about this song, cryptically titled, Sagganuts, "I just started listening to Velvet Underground records and copied all their tunes...you know, used that as a prototype." He actually said that on the "In Transit" video, but nevermind that, the point is he said it.
The most important question here is WHY WAS THIS NEVER REVEALED TO T... MORE

I don't remember writing about The Strokes on this site before, actually I don't remember writing or talking about them at all in the past year, after they decided to fuck things up with FIOE -which in my opinion SUCKED -, and it's sad 'cuz they were my favorite band for so long, well not so long, but they were my favorites for the longest amount of time, and when they decided to get married, make babies, take a hiatus, and leave me with a broken heart, Bright Eyes came wi... Well I have no idea what happened with that last post about Ize of the World, but I guess I should post that song again because I don't think it showed up.
Maybe that worked? If not, here's the link...

Okay, so I feel like this song is extremely overlooked by the general population. I know many who are familiar with The Strokes only because of the song "You Only Live Once," probably because of its memorable lyrics and catchy sound, but I really think the following lyrics have got to be some of the best. A bit of social and political commentary for ya. How SCARY ! ;) At least you moggers can appreciate it.
I can't even pick a favorite line...it's all thought-provokin... MORE

I had a craving for The Strokes today just before heading out to pick up my daughter at school. Then whoever was on my favourite Sirius Satellite Radio channel, Garage, played Razorblade. Just for me. Thanks! I don't have that album, so back home I'm playing Is This It instead:... MORE

...Time elapsed film always seems juxtaposed when played with tunes other than classical or maybe electronica....if you haven't seen the film Koyaanisqatsi...why don't you give it a whirl sometime...I you don't know the film I speak of, I wrote a piece on it here ...here's a bit of the film with a cut from the Strokes' Room on Fire LP slathered on it...... Mog and my second life... I think given what I just had to do, the next spate of songs is pretty appropriate... Some rocking cathartic music to purge the hell out of my aggravation!

Now, this doesn't make any sense. For all those anticipating the 7.4.7 release of Michael Bay's Transformers, you've definitely seen lead man Shia LaBeouf sporting a Strokes T-shirt in the explosion-friendly previews. So, you'd think a Strokes song would at least make the Transformers soundtrack, right? Not quite. The Strokes got gypped! Think more along the lines of a bomb-trigger happy set list our boys in Iraq would be spinning on their iPods. A new track from the Sma... MORE

“Fab, if you were black and I was a woman, we’d have a severe case of Jungle Fever right now.” This is the type of jargon that plagues the Strokes relaunched Web site, www.thestrokes.com. Gone is the old-school eighties TV that brought you tour updates and the hottest deals in Strokes merchandise. The old TV has been revamped by an Atari-friendly video game screen, which tunes into personal band videos, pictures from guitarist Nick Valensi’s personal collection and sna... MORE

I've suddenly got back into the strokes again and whilst trauling through my strokes library i found and unreleased song called clear skies. Apparently written by the drummer of the band Fab Moretti for one of drew barrymores films or something i realized this is by far one of THE best songs the strokes have ever produced! i hope you enjoy this masterpiece as much as i do!... In four days the Strokes will finally relaunch their Web Site, www.thestrokes.com. To mark the relaunch an alternative video for “You Only Live Once,” directed by Warren Fu will be premiering. Today the band made an announcement via MySpace saying they will be taking a break from touring and the studio. The bulletin, according to NME .com read: "The band are still enjoying some much needed 'off time'. I wouldn't expect anything to come out this year. In the me... MORE
