Thanks to Chris Douridas' show New Ground I've heard the first new song I've gotten excited about in months. Unfortunately the album won't be released til January 2007.

Aren't the members of the The Shins from Tuscon or somewhere in New Mexico? Then why does the lead singer have a British accent? I'm just sayin'...

I've listened to it half heartedly twice, and then whatever they played at the show.I looked through my videos and realized how beautiful this song is. There... that's one reason. To celebrate, I'm wincing the night away at Bad Ass Coffee in Tuscaloosa, inputting grades from the chem labs that I teach. What can I say, I got bored at home. I haven't listened to it yet, other than Phantom Limb. Anybody got anything to say about it?

The Shins This Indie guitar pop band got a huge push with its prominent mention by Natalie Portman in the movie, Garden State, who proclaimed that their track New Slang will "change your life". Along with other standouts like Know Your Onion and Caring Is Creepy, their debut, Oh, Inverted World launched them into Indie stardom alongside Death Cab For Cutie. They followed that with Chutes Too...

Man oh man, I just received news from pollstar.com that The Shins are coming to my hometown Chicago and performing!!! This will occur February 2nd and I sure hope that I can go. Awww man, their new album is pretty good, but they could have done better, I think. I don't know, maybe I have to give it some time because I have only heard the single and 30 second clips from the other songs. But,...
