The Ropes have put together a soft and slightly haunting video for their single ”Clubs in Europe Forever.” The song has a simple beat and slowly shifting synths which make the whole production kind of catchy. Filmed in Brooklyn in a space strangely reminiscent of some Melophobes’ summer living quarters, I’ve got to say I think they did a pretty good job.
THE ROPES‘ upcoming EP has a great title track, although I’m not sure what about the correlations between the topics of the song and clubs in Europe. I think what they’re trying to say is that the duo will be around a long time and so will human atrocities.MP3: The Ropes - Clubs in Europe [...]
Earlier this week, Sharon Shy of The Ropes took a few minutes to talk with me about The Ropes and their new EP, Be My Gun.Sonic Dissonance: With "What They Do For Fun," just coming out last year, why did you decide to follow it up with an EP so quickly? Sharon Shy: We aren't stuck to a release schedule or a product cycle. These are songs that we felt strongly about and we wanted to release this...
A few days ago I posted about The Ropes and their amazing ep"Be My Gun". Today the Ropes are back with a video of their single "Be My Gun". What I love about The Ropes is their chill sound, it almost reminds me of The Knifes meet the The Chromatics, aside from that their music always leaves me wanting for more. The Knifes - Be My GunThe Knifes - Kitty Get Down ...
Be My Gun is three overall solid songs. With the title track leading the way through a powerful riff and bass combo, the disc's highlight was very worthy of it's placement on the short EP. Add in "Too Cool To Love" and you're well on your way to a strong even unforgettable EP. "Too Cool To Love" again features a strong base and drumline with mysterious lyrics from vocalist Sharon Shy.Unfortunat...
I'd like to give you a heads up on a band whose members recently joined MOG. I wasn't familiar with the group till I met these guys here. Ever since they joined, they had the *dignity* and musical *passion* to post about music they love. I've been following their posts for some time now & I realized that they are music lovers above all. Their love for music & good taste in it, led me to check ...

The Ropes are an indie rock/new wave duo based in NYC. They've recently released an EP entitled Be My Gun.The band has a great energy, drips sexuality, and possess a serious groovey indie vibe. Get a taste of their sound here:"Be My Gun"- MP3The Ropes' websiteThe Ropes' Myspace
The Ropes is a NYC based duo composed of vocalist/bassist Sharon Shy and multi-instrumentalist Toppy (he plays drums with a guitar around his neck). The music was described to me as comparable to The Knife and the Chromatics. A lot girl/guy duos' music seems to click with me. Six dudes sitting in a studio kicking around ideas can result in a bunch of clashing ideas and unrealized sonic gems bu...
