Getting Up & Rising Down: The Roots live in Seattle
6 months ago

The Roots April 9th, 2009 Paramount Theatre Seattle When I was growing up, it seemed as if only a few thing were always consistent. One of those was my love for music. Me and my brother would lock ourselves in our rooms for hours, going through albums from Jazz and Hip-Hop to Rock n' Roll and Punk. It didn't [...]

On Tuesday night The Roots, Gym Class Heroes, and Estelle hit The Roseland Ballroom for their NYC stop on this North American tour. The house was packed, the energy was electric, and the show was a stunning example of truly amazing live performance. Make sure you read Jon Pareles's piece in The New York Times which breaks down the entire show. Below, we've got a fresh photo gal [...]

I hate to admit it, but I am glad I didnt buy this album. I have a big dilema with this. I usually dont mind if I dont like a cd after buying it, because I am "supporting the cause." The charity so to speak being the music industry, and as someone who tells themself that one day someone will buy a disk of sorts that I am singing on.... I buy albums. Sometimes even twice.White people really like...

Blog post image preview

This show opened up with the Roots since the headliner of the night was Erykah Badu. Unfortunately I didn't get to see her and I hope that doesn't taint this review. I was able to take a few snaps of the show even though I was warned many times that there were to be no photos allowed. Fortunately our seats weren't ridiculously out there in the theatre and I was able to get some decent photos....

New Roots Track & Album

Many of us were on vacation, so I apologize for that shitty week of no posts. Hopefully this week makes up for it. The Roots new album "Rising Down" is set to release April 29th. It will be their tenth album and has been described to be darkly funky, politically charged, and filled with special guests. One track that has been gaining a lot of popularity has been their track "Birthday Girl", pro...

I Wanna Be Where You Are

Last Friday, Erykah Badu joined The Roots on Jimmy Fallon to pay homage to the late great Michael Jackson. I've been waiting for a video rip, but this works for me. Big shouts to ItsAllTheWayLive (and ?uestlove) for the HQ audio. UPDATE: Brought this back up for two reasons. I feel it got overlooked in [...]
