All Music GuideFirst released as a limited edition single-sided LP, then reissued as a free CD to be given out at a New Year's Eve 1989 concert (then later sold through the fan club), this 30-minute piece deconstructs Beethoven's "Fur Elise" with Residential abandon, finding the loneliness of the melody and amplifying it several times until it flies apart into rhythmic and melodic shards. This is the sound of the Residents for the second half of the '80s: heavily processed, primitive computer music of limited palette and texture, with no real sense anymore of a "group." For all listeners know, the Residents may be one single guy. Part of this work turned up later as Santa Dog 84.
