mogqafreak of Sprouting PotatoThe Raveonettes and The Kills. I picture them as two super cool cars speeding along the same desolate two lane highway, side by side, one on the wrong side of the divider. I've been waiting for them to switch lanes, and with their latest releases it seems they are closer than ever to doing just that. The parallels have grown more clear, the pop sensibilities more often bubble to the surface, and when the recipe calls for noise, both go above and beyond the call of duty.... MORE

I bought The Raveonettes’ newest album, Lust Lust Lust, today on iTunes. Two songs into the preview, and I was dedicated. This album is the whole reason I listen to music, and I felt compelled to share.

The openin... MORE

Now here come the Raveonettes with their own attempt, and it's much more successful. Loud, distorted, reverberating, and alternately sultry and sunny. The key is to add the element of danger, something the MF are far too wry to manage. "Aly Walk With Me," the lead-off single, gets about as close to "Sugar Ray" as needs to be gott... MORE
