feeling down? Poetry all the same. Of you don't get the song, you don't get much. It's movement man... movement.. and shit.. the bipolar buzz
...broadband is squezed back into my machine after 7 months being dark.
I'm not listening to much music right now for a few different personal reasons, but have thrown The Rapture's new album on the fire as new, meaningless music to infect with everything that's going on right now.
And I really like it - slick and over produced as it is. Digestable pop music that isn't totally engineered without character, isn't entirely souless.
I freely admit that I pirate music, and I'm not sorry. There's a lot of mediocre releases constantly coming out, and while my opinion of "mediocre" may not be the same as yours, I'm just not wealthy enough to buy everything that I read about before I can hear the whole thing (several times). I love MOG recommendations, but nothing anybody can write will convince me to blindly purchase it. SO in the last 72 hours I went on a huge downloading binge and got anything I could... MORE

A bit behind the curve, since "Get Myself Into It" is spinning via The Rapture's MySpace, but dayum! If this is an indication of what a few years off and distancing onesself from DFA does, me likey. Yes, we're sounding very Talking Heads here, but is that such a bad thing? It's refreshing to hear these guys a little less manic and even more ass-shakin'.
Just finished my second spin on The Rapture's new album, Pieces of the People We Love, and...urm. I'm a bit disappointed. On one hand, I admire their total commitment to the party vibe; just about every track here can light up a dancefloor, and it's all very fun. But there's been something lost, also. No slow songs here, none of the pindrop spareness of a track like "Open Up Your Heart"; the closest we get are a couple moody grinds like "Callin Me." And on the faster ... MORE
The Rapture's new CD "Pieces of the People We Love" was waiting for me when I got home today. First of all, I love The Rapture - I saw them open for Interpol and The Cure in NYC and was instantly hooked. Echoes was excellent - and these guys are just FUN live. I've been really worried about this CD - I was a little less worried when I heard the first single "Get Myself Into It" which was very Echoes-esque, but a good single is a long way from a good album. Today, whe... MORE
