By request, more Presets. I threw their video for "My People" in the Aussie post I made earlier this week as an afterthought. I barely remembered that they were Australian. I was too busy basking in the glory of Cut Copy and Van She. Then BLAM, people go nuts for "My People". I can't argue, that's one really catchy song. I saw the Presets live in Perth, Australia last year when they opened for Daft Punk... and yes I flew half way across Australia cos the gig was sold out in Melbourne...
It was an incredible day... and as much as Daft Punk was incredible, The Presets were just mind blowing.... and I have followed them ever since
Every new music vid better than the one before, and they do set the bar high... but this hasnt disappointed...

Australian electro duo The Presets consists of Julian Hamilton (vocals, programming and keys) and Kimberly Moyes (drums, programming and keys). The third and quintessential single from Apocalypso, "Talk Like That" is out now! It was released over the weekend in CD, Vinyl and digital formats. Packaged with the original comes remixes by the likes of Dave Spoon, Jence (Digitalism), Optimo and CFCF as well as the video from French visionaries Jonas and Francois.

There seems to be a lot of synthlines burning up the mog-o-sphere the last few days. The 80's are back, or maybe never left the premises. Australia's The Presets have released two singles from their upcoming recording. As I listened to the latest, "This Boy's In Love", I checked for sycronization. Sure enough, it's the real Wednesday. When everyone was dancing their little backsides off to MY PEOPLE I could not help but pause and think it is amazing how they could take a divisive subject like Australia's immigration policy and the Tampa farce and dress it up to the best dance track of 2007. I dare say not too many people would be aware of the songs meaning. But still, its a great nightclub anthem.... MORE

I had been aware that the Presets had a new album coming out, but not until I listened to it did I know how great of a new album they had. Their first album, Beams, finds the Melbourne duo thrashing through a series of dark lo-fi electro rave-ups and a few surprisingly melodic tunes, most notably "The Girl and the Sea".
