by pellyThis past weekend marked the 7th annual NYC Burlesque Festival and with it came a boundless buffet of sexual energy and lustful thinking. As I stood watching Friday’s performances at the Bell House, I was taken aback by the rich uniqueness of every act but most of all by the raw sensual vibe that [...]
Three bands who have each been making great music for over a decade now, are currently touring these shores, and you, yes you, can see how they're all faring this week. Well not all of them. . . . unless you have your own private jet.
The Notwist released a tour 7" last week for their new single "Boneless". The 7" includes a radical re-interpretation of the title track courtesy of Animal Collective's own Panda Bear. Stream below: The band also kicked off their North American tour in YYZ last friday in support of their latest release The Devil, You Me . Ever since I first heard Consequence , I fell in love with The Notwist . I cannot resist a melancholic melody with a good steady beat. Something about it makes me feel like I'm in a movie, or feel seemingly important somehow. Anyway. For those of you who were fans of The Notwist's earlier albums (including Neon Golden with my said favorite song), be pleasantly surprised that the group has r...
Most people have never heard of German indie electro-rockers Notwist and even after this post enters the mighty mighty World Wide Web... many people will still not have heard of Notwist. But if you're not one to shy away from frog-legs and sweetbreads on a menu, maybe Notwist will fit your musical pallete. For starters try the trio's new 7 Boneless. It comes with a side of remix...alright, enoug...
[10-13-2008] As irrelevant as the remaining Beatles members seem these days, Paul and Ringo can take consolation in the fact that the ideal rock 'n' roll career is still based on the mold they created: release some great disposable pop records, then move closer and closer towards more serious "mature" music with each successive record. This idea of artistic development is becoming increasingly...
The Notwist are one of those strange cases where I practically forget about a band for a long period of time, but then randomly hear again one day and think to myself, "how did I forget about these guys and why don't I already own all their albums?"Download: The Notwist - "Boneless" In my defense, The Notwist aren't exactly the most prolific and in-your-face band in the world, releasing al...
I couldn't make it to the show last night but I sent friend and comrade Yancy E. was there to shoot some pictures,.. check them out below..DOSH.He said they were really good, sounded like Battles live but less spazzy..(all pictures by Yancy Evans, click to make larger) NOTWIST he had to say this about them.. "They were great! They keyboard player kinda makes me want to buy a VW? Watch out h...
Here we have a new Panda Bear track called "Boneless" — no not really. Panda Bear remixed the Notwist's already fantastic "Boneless" but with it's chops and edits, the remix has been rendered unrecognizable. This new remix bares little (if any) ressemblance to the original, so we can easily call it a new Panda Bear song [...]
A friend make me a couple of mixed CDs recently, and there were a couple of curious and fascinating tracks that essentially blew me away...I called her to ask where I can find them, and she said that according to a friend of hers, Neon Golden was (and is I suppose) their very best work...so I bought a used copy through Amazon, and I cannot recommend enough that anyone reading this do the same.

The Notwist released their Boneless 7" today on Domino, and while the original is a fine song in its own right, I ordered the single solely for the b-side: Panda Bear's "sunny, tropicalia tinged remix." However, based on this super lo-fi 1:30 preview excerpt courtesy of Juno, the term "remix" is misleading: this is essentially a brand new Panda Bear song. I normally wouldn't post an excerpt, b...
Our friends at Domino just hooked us up with a copy of the Boneless vinyl 7" to give away. Just leave your name and your favorite Panda Bear song in the comments, and I'll pick a winner on Monday. Also, if you don't own a turntable, you can now buy the 7" digitally for like 2 bucks. Here's the official stream:Finally, here's the track Panda Bear samples/loops on his version of "Boneless." That ...

My list of Great Danes would go as follows:Sune Rose Wagner of the RaveonettesJonas Bjerre of Mew:And, of course, Our own Henry aka Me And The Horse I Rode In On:!!I don't exactly know what prompted him to do so, but he suggested I check out The Notwist's album Neon Golden, which came out in 2002. I had remembered hearing good things, but had not ever actually __heard__ their music. So I checked...
