I'm in a mix club where twelve people mail CD mixes. One is assigned to each month. A lot of people have to drive somewhere for 4th of July weekend, so I thought I'd do this. I think this is the most underated song EVER. People have never even heard it and when I play it for them they get silent and can't believe it had taken them this long to hear a song like this.

Sitting here listening to the Bomp 1981 release of the 73 Modern Lovers sessions that Kim Fowley oversaw. Primitive, haphazard...in a way like a kinder, gentler sound than the the VU album White Light/White Heat...but damn if it does not rock the socks off. Roadrunner (both versions) are fantastic. The never-officially released WALK UP THE STREET might be the true gem here. And it is no wonder that the once Boston-walkers THE CHEATERSLICKS found the wanting to cov... MORE
