Pussy, King of the Pirates is a one-off collaboration between the Mekons and the novelist Kathy Acker. Both the band and the author released product under this same title in early 1996, and the album is a collection of songs that loosely reflect the themes of the book. Like the Mekons albums of the mid-'80s, Pussy has country and blues overtones, only all of the elements are shifted into something unusual and jarring. It's a slight album in their catalog, but it certainly is interesting for fans.
