Manchester Orchestra ( great name btw ) is a five piece out of the suburbs of Atlanta , Georgia. I first caught these backwater indie darlings on the live broad cast from Coachella 2008 last month. The band is a moody kind of corn gazers with a good dose of brit rock to keep the swagger full and in view. I just feel sad that I couldn't go one of their concerts near me. It was depressing. These songs of theirs always give me the image of running in the forest not away from something, more towards.

This band opened for Brand New when I saw them in April. Though I wasn't quite attentive during their set, I've checked out their stuff and it's really good. They are from Georgia and apparently they are also very young (19+).

Whenever I get tickets to a show, I try to give the opening bands all a chance if I haven't heard them before. In this case it was the mewithoutYou/Piebald tour. I already own albums from the other three bands on this tour (mwY, Piebald, Snake Cross Crown), but I hadn't heard anything from Manchester Orchestra. I checked out the myspace and heard a couple solid songs. I decided to pick up the record. It came in the mail a couple of days ago but has not stopped playing... MORE

I think I have talked about these lads before...but tonight I am prepared to give them the title of 'The Next Big Thing'....bands this good can't hide under the radar for too long.
Here you go...the Manchester Orchestra...we can all say that we knew them way back when....

I've recently heard much about this band named Manchester Orchestra via Rolling Stones Magazine and SPIN, so i decided to check out what the hype was all about. I went to the SPIN site, and they were featured as "Artist of the Day." If you like the indie sound, with some nice crunchy rock tones, go to SPIN.com and listen to the stream of "Wolves at Night"...you may just fall in love like I did. I got the album yesterday, and I must say that there isn't a song on it that... MORE

If anyone is going to be in the London area betwen March 5th-10th I suggest that you stop by and see Manchester Orchestra play at one or all of the following locations. They are a young and up and coming band that is already getting great recognition. Once they return home from playing in London they will begin their tour as the opening acts for Brand New and then some dates opening for Saves the Day and Say Anything.
